About the event
Participants will learn the basics of woodwork in this freeform and hands-on class and walk away with their own small cutting board or charcuterie. If we have time, we can try to use the laser engraver to burn a custom image onto the board.
Course Highlights : We'll answer questions such as: What is woodwork? Which woods can be used? Does wood move? (Spoiler: Yes) What tools are needed to start woodworking? How are cutting boards made? Can a rectangle be "square?" What's the difference in 80 grit and 200 grit sandpaper? Can I use cooking oil to maintain my favorite cutting board. (Spoiler: Please Don't Do That) We'll also go over how lumber is milled and what it takes to actually make different kinds of projects such as cutting boards, game boards, tables, etc.
